In 1968 is born Etro, still family owned fashion house and manufacturer of fabrics, fragrances and furnishings, founded by Gimmo Etro. Based on Gimmo's love of culture, travels and beauty, the designs embody elegance, style and sophistication, not only in terms of design but also regarding materials and production techniques. The symbol of Etro is the Paisley motif which appeared for first time in 1981. The inspiration for the clothing designs are coming mainly from the fine fabrics and decorations. The next step was to involve leather into the collection, so the paisley jacquard fabric treated with a special plasticization technique became a status symbol of the chic 80s. Moreover Etro expanded above the boundaries of fashion clothing, bringing his distinguishable style and elegance into home accessories. In the 90's Etro presented New Tradition, a prêt-à-porter line which became one of the strongest most unique concepts of Etro brand.
