The Japanese Kenzo Takada founds his own fashion fouse in 1970 in Paris. The first women's collection has enormous success and in 1971 it is presented also in New York and Tokyo. The collections are always presented in a spectacular way in 1978 and 1979 the shows are held in circus tent, finishing with horsewomen performers wearing transparent uniforms and Kenzo Takada riding an elephant. The first men's collection is launched in 1983. Since 1988 the label is also involved into fragrance production. The flagship of Kenzo's perfume line is Flower By Kenzo launched in 2000. In 2001 the skincare line KenzoKL is presented. In 1999 Kenzo Takada announces his retirement. Nowadays the creative director of Kenzo label is Antonio Marras.
