Milan Fashion Week fall 2011 menswear bags
Milan Fashion Week fall 2011 for men concluded today and gave men a snapshot of what is to come for fall 2011. The color palette was traditionally fall with burnt oranges, burgundy, deep browns, shades of charcoal, white and black. The bags that designers sent down the runway for men included large, black weathered leather duffels which were held traditional by two top handles or given a change in silhouette with a side handle creating a long mirage of the bags shape. Emporio Armani showed a men’s work bag in a deep charcoal, weathered leather which could easily fit a laptop and be worn daily for work or as a airplane carry-on. Emporio Armani also showed a duffle bag with a handle on the side which allowed the bag to be worn lengthwise as opposed to east/west. The duffle bag works well for weekend getaways as well as for going to the gym. Ermenegildo Zegna showed a large and structured doctor’s bag for men in black, very weathered leather. The double handle bag works as an airplane carry-on or as an extra bag while traveling by car or train. It is not large enough to use as a weekender and too structured for the gym. Corneliani showed a large, camera style bag which the model carried as a clutch. The bag works well for casual work environment or protecting camera and video equipment in lieu of a traditional media case. Costume National sent a model down the runway carrying what appeared to be a laptop sleeve, but could actually be used as briefcase. The model carried the case by hand as a clutch. Prada also sent several men’s bags down the runway which were soft yet structured and perfect for weekends or when a larger bag is needed for work. Prada used a variety of classic colored leather such as ivory, black and brown.
