2011: The Year Of The Men's Blazer
This year men have so far been seen showing their sharper side on the catwalk. The start of this look can be found at this year's New York fashion week. Running from 10th February, yesterday saw the first of the cruise collections from Tommy Hilfiger, among the collection saw spring time evening wear with a white dinner jacket and clean cut, well-tailored trousers. This "look" is sure to be exhibited in the next few days across many collections and is sure to see more of this sharp look. This will most likely include other items such as the dinner jacket and other kinds of evening wear to maintain this dapper theme. However, the key piece this year is absolutely going to be Men's blazers. This is evident from its appearance in many top fashion events so far this year. The Marc Jacobs collection shown in Milan was all about men's blazers, teamed with a slim legged tailored trouser. Alexander McQueen's collection at Milan also predominantly contained the men's blazer, teamed with a slightly morebaggy look on the bottom half. Calvin Klein was another designer who brought out the blazer in his spring collection in Milan, but seemed to concentrate a lot on the leather look. Armani were showing a similar look to Calvin Klein at the same show, showing that the shiny/leather look is sure to feature in a blazer form. All these influences will ensure the popularity of the blazer in the high street coming into the spring time. Taking this look off the cat walk to the high street is very easy to pull off especially in comparison to many of the styles found there. Most styles of men's blazers, whether they are plain, pin-striped, tweed, or any other material are a very simple item that can either be thrown on with a plain t-shirt and a pair of jeans to smarter up a casual look. On the other hand if your blazer is teamed with some sharp tailored trousers it will give a very different, much more sophisticated, cool look. If you don't have a dinner jacket then a blazer can be used more as an evening wear piece for a formal event. Teamed with a cool shirt, this look will be more than suave enough for a formal evening out. So hit the high street and make sure you get the must wear item of 2011
